Topics include: family living, parenting, household and money management, decision-making skills, communication skills, self-awareness, crisis management, and the individual’s roles and responsibilities within the family and community. CHILD DEVELOPMENT I

This course focuses on conception, prenatal development, and the process of labor and birth. The study of birth defects is also included. Issues and concerns related to children up to the age of two are addressed. A parenting simulation experience is required.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION INTERNSHIP

This course provides an internship experience for students in the Early Childhood Education Academy. It is specifically designed for students interested in a career working with young children. The student studies the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of a child from birth to 6 years old, and opportunities are provided for students to work with preschool and elementary age children.
